Batman Returns

Of the four films in this era of Batman this is the one I remember the least. Compared to the first this is very much more of the same. That's not a bad thing at all, the first was great so why mess with it. It feels properly like a direct continuation, with the minor issue of the lack of the Vicky Vale character. Again we're plagued by more outrageously sized glasses this time on Selina Kyle, though I think Michelle Pfeiffer pulls it off better than Kim Basinger does in the first. While I'm on the topic of looks, what's with Christopher Walken hair? Seems a bit over the top! Though that is not the only thing that could be considered silly, such as the plastic duck boat/car thing. This is definitely not the serious Batman we've got used to after Batman Returns and The Dark Knight. One thing that really doesn't make sense to me is the origin of Catwoman. I've never read any Batman comics so I don't know if there are other takes on the origin, but how does falling to your death out of an office window then getting licked/eaten back to life by a bunch of stray cats make any sense at all? Best not to think about it and move on to Batman Forever.
