Spike: After The Fall

It's always a good week when I get my Amazon gift certificate payment for my affiliate work elsewhere. You've probably noticed lots of new things over the last few days. The final thing this time around is another trade paperback comic compilation containing issues 1-4 of Spike: After The Fall.

This is a spin-off from a spin-off. The Spike: After The Fall comic tells the story of how Spike got to where we find him in the Angel: After The Fall books and how he became one of the Lords of LA. The first thing I noticed here was the quality of the art. It really isn't up to the same standards as the Angel or Buffy books. Except for a few key pages it really lacks detail. The story though was much better. It felt like a good continuation and was true to the character. There is great back story here but it is softened a little by the fact it's a prequel and that we already know the outcome from the main Angel stories. As a one off special though it is good to fill in the time while waiting for volume three of Angel.
